Pearl Jewelry
Each pearl is as unique as the woman wearing the pearl jewelry.
Pearl jewelry displays a timeless elegance to be appreciated by
all with sophisticated tastes.
At DiamondSafe we pride ourselves on quality. All our Akoya Pearl jewelry
and Black Pearls are constructed using full, round Japanese pearls.
Pearls have been considered a valuable gem throughout history by many different
cultures. Dating as far back as 2300 BC, pearls were considered prized possessions
deserved only for royalty. They were viewed as tiny symbols of wealth and prestige.
These natural pearls were extremely rare and expensive. Today, the cultivation of
pearls has made them much more affordable and available. The beauty of a cultured
pearl can be enjoyed by many. They are no longer exclusive to the wealthy and elite.

A pearl is formed when an irritant, such as sand, becomes trapped inside the tissue
of an oyster. With a cultured pearl, a foreign object is inserted by man, rather
than letting nature take its course. The oyster responds to this irritation by secreting
a substance called nacre. As the layers of nacre build up over time around the irritant
a pearl is formed. The size, shape and color of a pearl will vary according to the
habitat of the oyster, such as the water type and geographic location.
